Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 23, 2026

New June, a product of Codename, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("New June", "we", "us"), makes a golf improvement app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the New June app and our websites, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email us at support@newjune.co.

The short version

  • During a round, the app records audio and your location so you can talk through your shots and we can build the story of your game. This is the heart of the product, and it only happens while a round you started is in progress. You can pause or stop it at any time.
  • Recordings are uploaded to our servers, transcribed, and processed to pull out golf content.
  • We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • You can delete your account and data in the app, or by emailing us.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address, your name if your sign-in provider shares it, and an account identifier. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address. If you use Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email address.

Audio recordings and transcripts

While a round is active, the app listens through your iPhone microphone so you can describe shots out loud. This is continuous ambient capture for the duration of the round, including while the app is in the background. Audio is uploaded to our servers and transcribed, and the transcripts are processed to extract golf-relevant content such as clubs, shot results, and how you felt about a swing. Dialog that is not about your golf is filtered out of downstream analysis.

A visible indicator shows whenever recording is live, and you can pause or stop recording at any time from the round screen. Because the microphone can pick up voices around you, please let your playing partners know you are recording, and comply with the recording-consent laws that apply where you play.

Location

With your permission, the app collects precise location during rounds, including in the background, to map where shots were taken, measure distances, and detect which hole you are playing. If you use the Apple Watch app, location from the watch is used for distances to the green. Outside of rounds, your location is used only while the app is open, to find courses near you and show local conditions; background location collection happens only during an active round.

Motion and activity

With your permission, the app uses motion and fitness activity from your device to improve GPS accuracy and battery life during rounds, for example by detecting when you are walking versus stopped.

Health data (Apple Watch)

If you use the Apple Watch app, your round can be saved to Apple Health as a golf workout. Health data is written to and read from Apple HealthKit with your permission and is governed by Apple's HealthKit protections. We never use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, and we do not sell it.

Round and profile data

We store the golf content you create and that the app derives for you: scores, shots, clubs, courses played, practice notes, your onboarding interview responses, your goals, and the plans and reports the app generates from them.

Usage and device information

We collect analytics about how the app is used, such as screens viewed and features tapped, along with device model, OS version, app version, and a user identifier. We use this to understand what is working and to improve the product.

Diagnostics

If the app crashes or hits an error, we collect diagnostic information such as stack traces, logs, device state, IP address, and in some error cases a replay of the screens leading up to the problem, so we can find and fix bugs. If you submit in-app feedback, your message and relevant diagnostic context are included.

Purchase information

Subscriptions are purchased through Apple. We receive purchase status (such as trial, active, or expired) so we can unlock your membership, but we never see your payment card details.

How we use information

  • To provide the product: capture your rounds, transcribe and analyze them, and turn them into scorecards, insights, reports, and plans.
  • To personalize the experience to your game, goals, and preferences.
  • To operate, secure, and improve our services, and to fix bugs.
  • To manage your membership and send service communications, such as a notification when your post-round report is ready.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Transcript analysis and report generation use large language models. We send only the content needed for the feature, and our AI providers are not permitted to use your content to train their models.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract:

  • Cloud hosting, database, and file storage for your account, rounds, and recordings (Supabase, Vercel).
  • Speech-to-text and AI processing for transcription and analysis.
  • Product analytics (PostHog) and crash and error diagnostics (Sentry).
  • Subscription management (RevenueCat) and purchase processing (Apple).
  • Course maps and weather (Mapbox, OpenWeatherMap) and push notification delivery (Expo).

We may also disclose information if required by law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active so the app can show your history and build on it. You can delete individual rounds in the app. You can delete your entire account from Settings in the app, or by emailing support@newjune.co from your account email. Account deletion removes your profile, rounds, recordings, transcripts, and derived data from our systems, subject to short backup-retention windows and records we must keep by law.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted, and recordings are stored in private storage accessible only to your account. No system is perfectly secure, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique password where applicable.

Your rights and choices

  • Permissions for microphone, location, motion, notifications, and Health can be changed at any time in iOS Settings. The app works best with them granted, but recording only ever happens during a round you started.
  • You can access and correct your profile information in the app.
  • You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, at support@newjune.co.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR, including the rights to access, correct, delete, and port your data, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We honor these requests regardless of where you live.

Children

New June is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as the product evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The effective date at the top reflects the latest revision.
