Current build 0.4.6Alpha test instructions and FAQs
Play anywhere, even when a course is missing from the catalog or has gaps in its details. Scorecard and mapping information can now be added and edited by players.
0.4.6
Current buildWhat changed
- Refreshed design and styles across the app.
- Fixed shot plans started from the watch not using the selected club to work out the target line.
0.4.5
ReleasedPlay any course
- If the course is missing, or only partly in the catalog, tap Play here anyway, enter the name, and start playing.
- Take up to four photos of the scorecard. Hole pars, handicaps, yardages, and tees are read in the background while you play, then you pick your tees.
- Map as you go: drop a pin on the tee box, fairway waypoints, and green center, or tap to use your position.
- Shot tracking works from your GPS on holes that have not been mapped yet.
- No scorecard handy? Set par in one tap from the range finder before you enter a score.
- Anything estimated is labeled as an estimate. Unknown par shows a dash instead of a made-up par 4.
- Spot something wrong on a finished course? Report a course data issue under Range Finder settings > Help & Feedback.
Casual Mode
- Turns off audio recording, shot prediction, priority evaluations, post-round analysis, memories, and profile updates.
- Range finder, course map, and scorecard stay available.
- Set it from the round setup screen, or any time from the in-round settings menu.
Range Finder and "Plays Like" distance
- Plays-like now accounts for course altitude using ground-level pressure.
- Elevation adjustment scales with landing angle instead of a flat factor.
- Elevations from different sources are never mixed.
- Target origins stay aligned with your live phone location.
- The range finder works on holes with no tee or green data, measuring from GPS.
More club choices
- More clubs to pick from, including the 1-iron, 4-wood, 2-hybrid, and 46, 48, 62, and 64 degree wedges.
- Build your bag with wedges by loft, and add custom lofts.
- The range finder and Shot Planner name the clubs you actually carry.
Starting a round
- Home goes straight into course setup, and the pre-round briefing is now the start line.
- Nothing nearby? You land in search right away, with nearby courses and search results grouped together.
- Scheduled rounds can be started early.
- Course data refreshes when you start a round, so tee and map updates show up without a reinstall.
Shot tracking and round reports
- What you say is matched to the right hole more reliably, even when a score is entered late.
- Pocket noise that used to be transcribed as phantom phrases is filtered out before analysis.
- Round reports are more honest about what they do not know, and plan changes are only suggested when the evidence is strong.
Apple Watch
- Fixed the watch getting stuck on Round paused or Round complete after a round is over.
- A workout that outlives the app is recovered instead of left running.
- Full-distance shots planned on the watch get a fairway target automatically.
Round feedback surveys
- A short round feedback survey arrives the morning after a round.
Misc improvements
- Course search and selection styling, usability, and reliability.
- Better resiliency to offline or adverse network conditions: par, tee choices, and expired sign-ins wait for signal instead of dropping.
- Further work to eliminate the "New June used your location in the background" notification.
- Added an in-app way to delete your account.
- Removed the dark mode theme for now to reduce style surface area.
- Lowered the minimum iOS version to 16.2 to support iPhone 8 and newer.
