Alpha test instructions and FAQs

Significant improvements to the audio engine yield more accurate shot predictions, priorities, and action plans. Course search is revamped in preparation for large course catalog support.

Known issues

  • Club prediction: the wrong club can be predicted at times due to ambiguity or lack of evidence. Enhancements are planned to allow for uncertainty (for example "mid-iron" or "wedge") and correction.
  • Course catalog: not every course is available to play yet. Our top priority is to never block you from playing a round due to missing or partial course data, and a resolution will arrive in the next major release.

  • Consolidated permission requests into an explanatory walkthrough.
  • Added a checklist page to resolve missing or denied permissions.

Apple Watch app

  • Auto-launches when you start a round, if installed.
  • Fixed a crash caused by a shot-planner bug.

Resiliency to offline and poor internet conditions

  • Overhauled offline resiliency for rounds played with adverse connectivity, to eliminate data loss.

Course search and selection

  • Revamped course search, selection, and data caching. Decouples the app from the course data provider integration in the backend.
  • Request that a course be added to the catalog from within the app.

Audio quality and improved shot prediction

  • A new version of the audio engine significantly improves voice and transcription quality when the phone or microphone is left in a pocket or a noisy environment. Shot tracking improves wherever commentary exists.
  • Fixed a long-standing issue where large portions of audio were lost to extended audio segments from pocket rustling.
  • Enhanced audio prevents Bluetooth music playback while recording. Disable this in the Audio & Music settings menu to play music from a Bluetooth speaker.

Home and post-round

  • Restyled priorities and action plans on the home and post-round screens.

Location and privacy

  • Added safeguards to prevent background location subscriptions after a round has ended.

Shot Planner (beta)

  • Specify club choice, target line, and other shot attributes in the range finder and watch interface. This information feeds shot prediction for improved accuracy. Using it is completely optional.

Misc

  • The paywall has been disabled to avoid confusion. Payments and subscriptions are never active in a TestFlight build, but that is not always obvious.
